Censitio

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Censitio really free?

Yes! Censitio Solo is completely free with no monthly fees or hidden costs. You can categorize unlimited transactions and export HMRC-ready reports at no charge. We may introduce paid features in the future, but the core tool will remain free.

Does Censitio work offline?

Yes, Censitio Solo works entirely offline. Your data never leaves your computer. The web app requires internet, but the desktop version is fully offline-first.

How does HMRC categorization work?

Censitio uses HMRC's official guidelines to automatically categorize your bank transactions, recognizing common expense patterns like office supplies, travel, and professional fees.

Is my financial data private?

Yes, privacy is our priority. The desktop app stores everything locally. The web app uses AWS EU (London) servers with AES-256 encryption, and data is auto-deleted after 24 hours.

Can I use Censitio for Self Assessment?

Yes! Censitio exports an HMRC-compliant Excel summary you can use for Self Assessment. However, we are not tax advisors — please review all categorizations.

What bank formats are supported?

Censitio works with CSV files from most UK banks, including Barclays, Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest, Monzo, Starling, and more.

Does Censitio replace my accountant?

No, Censitio is a tool to help organize your transactions, not a replacement for professional advice. Many users export reports to share with their accountant.

Censitio vs QuickBooks?

Censitio focuses on one thing: categorizing bank transactions for HMRC. It's simpler, faster, and free. QuickBooks is a full accounting suite with invoicing and payroll.

How long is my data stored?

In the web app, transaction data is automatically deleted after 24 hours. Session history remains until you delete it or delete your account.
